There are already countless portable coffee machines on the market. At this point, I don’t think there’s much left to debate about their core extraction technology. The ceiling for brew quality is more or less set. These devices exist primarily to satisfy one need: being able to enjoy a cup of coffee anytime, anywhere. If they can come close to replicating the high-pressure extraction of a traditional espresso machine, that’s already considered a great experience.
So if a product in this category wants to truly stand out and attract broader attention, it needs to offer something more—something that better serves real-life usage scenarios. In other words, beyond making coffee, can it do anything else?
Perhaps with that mindset in product development, I recently came across a portable coffee maker called Nityk on Kickstarter. Compared to others in its category, it introduces two additional features: it supports solar charging, and it also functions as a power bank. Honestly, that’s pretty clever. When you’re outdoors and away from indoor outlets, having a device that can charge your phone or laptop suddenly makes it far more practical and thoughtful.
Designed as More Than Just a Coffee Maker
Nityk began with early concept sketches and functional layout planning, with a strong emphasis on portability, energy efficiency, and practicality. From the start, the goal wasn’t just to build another portable coffee maker, but to create a system tool capable of operating continuously in both daily life and outdoor environments.
The team developed and tested multiple prototypes, refining everything from internal mechanisms and extraction pressure to battery integration, solar performance, and user interface layout. Each iteration carefully evaluated ergonomics, material selection, durability, and ease of use. The final product represents a balance of performance, reliability, and design—a practical, thoroughly tested device.
Core Extraction Capabilities
Let’s talk about its primary function: brewing coffee.
According to official specifications, this portable espresso maker supports up to 20 bars of pressure, aiming to replicate the extraction performance of a traditional espresso machine. It also supports tea brewing and water boiling.
The unit includes a replaceable 15,000mAh battery, capable of producing up to 20 shots of espresso on a single charge. It supports fast charging via a USB-C (Type-C) port and can also be recharged using solar power.
Nityk features a 20ml water tank and can heat water directly inside the device before brewing. In other words, you don’t have to pre-fill it with hot water—it has its own built-in heating system. Temperature is adjustable between 85°C and 95°C (185°F to 203°F), allowing you to fine-tune settings depending on whether you’re brewing coffee or tea.
Like other devices in its category, it supports both coffee capsules and ground coffee. From heating to extraction, everything happens inside this compact, bottle-shaped machine.
Operation is simple: add water, close the top, and hold the power button for three seconds. The water begins heating. Once it reaches the desired temperature, Nityk automatically starts extraction and displays the brewing process in real time. The entire espresso process takes just 3–4 simple steps and can be completed within 4–5 minutes.
A Coffee Maker That’s Also a Power Bank
Now let’s talk about the power bank function—because honestly, this is the part I find most impressive.
The powerful 15,000mAh battery not only supports multiple consecutive espresso shots, but solar charging also enhances its practicality in extreme situations where electricity is limited. Even better, the battery is detachable. You can remove it and use it independently to charge various smart devices.
At that point, it’s not just a coffee machine—it becomes an emergency power solution. This dramatically increases its usefulness in outdoor settings.
Nityk also features a smart display that clearly shows the heating and boiling process, making the entire extraction cycle fully visible at a glance.
